Twitter Followers!

Hey Dudes,

Shameless self-promotion here. I started with a goal of 2000 twitter followers by Christmas. I’m at 1900-can we do it? Or at least by New Years? If you haven’t followed @bookshelfbattle then please do!

Done. I got to the magical 2000 earlier this year. I’m now maintaining my follower:following ratio at about 1:1, which is nice. However, I don’t follow everyone back. Many of those followers are spam accounts, and I just ignore them. I also use justunfollow.com to unfollow Twitter accounts that are inactive or unfollow people who never followed me back (unless it’s someone I really want to follow).

    • Thanks…I Read Encyclopedias for Fun Too! I thought everybody did!

Good advice, and always feel free to drop by with more as I’m just getting started. So if you unfollow people, don’t you run the risk of them unfollowing you? Although I suppose we’re all trying for those “meat and potato” follows that actually bring substance to twitter, not spam accounts trying to sell you junk.

What’s your favorite volume? I’m partial to Z myself.

Not the ones I’m unfollowing. These people haven’t been active in months or even more than a year. They won’t notice. Also, Twitter doesn’t tell you when someone unfollows. But when I unfollow someone who hasn’t followed me, it’s no big loss. They won’t be unfollowing me anyway.

My favourite volume? It’s been so long, but I spent a lot of time with A. Though S was fun, too.

  2. Consider yourself followed! As a newbie to Twitter I’d be happy with 100 followers! Good luck reaching the magic 2,000.

    • Well new friend from across the pond (sorry about that whole Revolutionary War thing, I tried to talk them out of it), for whatever it’s worth, you have a new follower in yours truly.

What the heck, it’s Christmas. I’ll give you a shameless plug too. It’s a shame free zone here on the bookshelfbattle.com, now till New Year’s, when shame will return!

By the way, I’ve seen Night Circus in bookstores (believe it or not there still are some) and it does look like an interesting, unique book. It’s on the list of books I’d like to read but I don’t know if I’ll have the time to do so, so I’ll hope others will read and tell me how they are.
