I’ve seen the first two episodes on Netflix. Enjoying it so far. Very noir. Very cool. Stylish but also with super heroes.

I’m really enjoying it! I missed a lot of plot the first viewing so I’m watching it again. LOVE Tennant as the villain, and the guy playing Luke Cage is amazing. Perfect casting all around!
The writing sometimes leaves something to be desired but I’m a writer with overwrought opinions so of course I’d say that. 😀

I’ve just seen the first two episodes but as you mention, I did look at it through a writer’s eye. The big question every writer faces is to give the backstory or jump right in? Neither one is without problems and there will always be people who prefer one option over the other.
In this show, they jump right in. Jessica is a PI. She has super strength but we don’t know why. Killgrave is after her and gets in her mind but we aren’t sure who he is, how he does it, what is it that he’s doing, etc.
That could turn some people off, those who like it all laid out. On the other hand, a whole season that just explains a) how Jessica got her powers and became a PI and then b) how did she meet killgrave, who is he how did he get his powers and so on…might put people to sleep.
Neither way’s necessarily wrong you just have to pick one and go for it.
