Who has experience using Wattpad that they’d like to share? I am thinking about dipping my toe in that interesting water and would like to hear from those who have done so.
EDIT: I am now on Wattpad. You were all too slow and I did not wait for your advice. That being said, please share it anyway. You can look me up as “Bookshelf Q. Battler” and follow me on Wattpad.
Thank you. May the watts be in your favor.
Well, I’ll say it depends on what you wish to accomplish. If you’re still curious, feel free to email me. I don’t use Watt much but I’m winter bayne there too.
I am liking this solely for the edit lol
It’s a bit hard to get your work noticed unless you are constantly active and/or write popular stories aimed at giggly girls with crushes on boy band members. That being said, I’ve had a certain amount of “success” because my work was featured by the Wattpad admins. All in all, I don’t know what that means for me as a professional writer. I know a few readers actually purchased some of my novels, but overall it’s simply an avenue for some exposure on your writing.

Thanks!
My take on it so far:
1) I see many authors with thousands of followers, thousands of views of their writing. Very impressive but…
2) How does any of that translate into money? Art for art’s sake is great but I mean…come on…money.
3) So many people are trying to become published authors, so many people competing for so few entertainment dollars spent by consumers…makes you wonder if it’s worth it.
I think that any exposure is good for your writing. Just keep in mind the average audience that subscribes to Wattpad, and whether or not trying to net that audience for your brand is worth the time and effort. I don’t see Wattpad as a jumping point for making money selling books, unless you’re specifically targeting what’s popular there. Like anything else in the publishing crap shoot, it’s all in the turn of the dice and how your writing infects the mob.
