Hello Peter. Good to speak with you.

Q.  Peter, I’ve tried a number of jobs in my life. I’ve been the assistant to the assistant to the Vice President of Corporate Assistance at Beige Corp, the world’s premiere producer of beige products and accessories. I started up a website that boasts upwards of 3.5 readers and now, as luck would have it, I’ve just been named Deputy Mayor of…

#31ZombieAuthors – Day 14 Interview – Kate L. Mary – Nerds vs. Hunks

Happy Saturday needs, geeks, dweebs and other readers totaling 3.5!

Bookshelf Q. Battler here with another #31ZombieAuthors reblog. This time it’s Kate L. Mary, author of the Broken World series, who inspired nerds the world over with her assertion that women find nerds preferable to hunks.

I’m not sure if it’s true but she makes a good case. At any rate, I stopped doing sit ups and focused more on my action figure collection, but then again, I was already doing that anyway.

Enjoy!

Today’s guest is Kate L. Mary, author of the Broken World series.  Follow protagonist Vivian Thomas on the road in the midst of zombie mayhem as she and her DD’s convince a duo of redneck brothers to give her a ride to California so she can locate the daughter she gave up for adoption.

A stay-at-home mother and Air Force wife, Kate and her family have lived in Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, California and Oklahoma.

Her Amazon author page states:

“Kate prefers nerdy, non-traditional heroes who can make you laugh to hunky pieces of man-meat…”

So in other words, there’s a distinct chance I might be able to convince her to become the Bookshelf Battle Blog’s 4.5th reader.

Hello Kate.  Thanks for taking my call on the space phone.

Hello Degenerate 3.5 Readers,

I see none of you have taken my advice to give up on all this writing horse shit and get a job at the salt mines yet.

Salt Mines Inc. is waiting there, ready to pay you good money for every chunk of salt you pull out of the ground but are you clowns interested?

NOOOOOOOO!!!!

“Look at me!  I’m a blogger!  I’m super smart and special and the whole entire world needs to know!”

Baaah!  Who needs ya’?

Wait, wait.  Come back.  Don’t leave yet.  I have to bitch about Thanksgiving first and then you can go.

This is a holiday about “giving thanks” but if you people have been paying any attention (and why would you because this blog sucks with the gale force wind of a thousand Dysons) then you know I don’t give…

SPOILERS!!!This Week’s The Walking Dead

Hello 3.5 readers.shutterstock_225100087 copy

What did you think of this week’s Walking Dead?

SPOILERS!!!  SPOILERS!!!  SPOILERS!!!

What did you think about Glenn?  I need to cut out the pizza because I couldn’t fit under a dumpster in a zombie apocalypse.

What was up with those balloons?  Why was there a helium tank and green balloons on the side of the road?  Did a wandering clown abandon them?

The wall is down!  Is it me or do Rick and the gang screw up wherever they go?

I have a theory that someone else will die.  Our emotions were toyed with vis a vis Glenn for too long for it all to be wrapped up that neatly.

Will they save Alexandria?  Is it done for?

Theory: Abraham saves the day by blowing all the zombies sky high with his newly found rocket launcher.

What say you, 3.5 readers?

#31ZombieAuthors – Day 12 Interview – Joe McKinney – Legendary Zombie Master

Hi there 3.5 readers.

The #31ZombieAuthors were wonderful and helpful. I’m loathe to single out any of them because they were all so good to me.

That being said, Joe McKinney is one of the biggest names in the zombie fiction game and he was a pretty cool dude to interview.

My favorite part was the Q and A about time management. Joe’s a police officer and a family man, yet he still finds time to get his writing done. Amazing.

I pointed out that while Joe’s a model of efficiency, I have a tendency to get distracted from my writing and have been known to let my pages remain blank while I stuff my face with Oreos and watch Steven Seagal movies.

When I submitted the question, I thought for sure Joe would tell me to snap out of it and stop being a crybaby or something but he was cool.

Instead, he discussed how the diligence of a writer “defies human nature” i.e. that life is all around us and we want to experience it and at the same time we need to be in that chair writing to get our work done.

In other words, write every day, get your words in, but don’t let life pass you by and don’t feel bad for embracing life.

You need to be in that writer’s chair but you can’t spend every minute of your life in that chair.

I don’t want to put words in the guy’s mouth but that’s a synopsis of what I took out of it anyway.

It’s a great interview, 3.5 readers.  Check it out.

Bram Stoker award winning novelist Joe McKinney is to fans of zombie fiction what Elvis is to rock and roll.  Simply mention Joe’s name to zombie enthusiasts and they’re likely to swoon and pass out.

If a zombie invasion were to ever go down, Joe could handle it.  After all, in his day job, he’s a Sergeant with the San Antonio, TX Police Department, where he’s a patrol supervisor.  He’s also worked as a homicide detective and a disaster mitigation specialist.

51CTSWUWJzL__SX302_BO1,204,203,200_As if that weren’t impressive enough, he’s also the author of the Dead World series.  The action begins in Dead City.  After a series of hurricanes rocks the Gulf Coast, a zombifying virus spreads to San Antonio, where police officer Eddie Hudson has to brave a zompoc in order to get his wife and…

Random Thoughts

  •  Is it me, or does WordPress change things around every five seconds?  I feel like no two visits to my dashboard are ever the same.  File under: nerd problems.
  • If you haven’t checked out Undesiredverse: Wanted yet, please do.  Give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down.  Tell me if it stinks.  Tell me if you like it.  Tell me if you think there are dishwasher instruction manuals that could get more sales.  I’d love your input, especially the negative kind to help it improve.
  • Did I mention you can read it on bookshelfbattle.com or on Wattpad?  If you’re on Wattpad, you might find that to be the better experience as all the Chapters are right there whereas they tend to get bumped down on this blog.
  • Call of Duty.  Halo 5.  Fallout 4.  Star Wars:  Battlefront.  I don’t think I’ll see Video Game Rack Fighter again until March:

Video Game Rack Fighter

  • I was sorry to hear about Charlie Sheen.  There are probably 10,000 jokes that could be made about how this is not surprising but Attorney Donnelly advises me that AIDS jokes have been unacceptable since 1990.
  • Alien Jones is still available for Ask the Alien.  Come to think of it, he might have one or two questions rolling around to get to.  Feel free to ask him yours and if he approves he’ll plug your book/blog.
  • Why do people eat pudding?  It has all the calories but none of the awesomeness of other desserts.  You might as well have had ice cream.  Eating pudding for dessert instead of the ice cream in your fridge is like taking your cousin on a date when Charlize Theron really wanted to go with you.
  • Sometimes I want to tape fallen leaves back onto trees.  It seems like a waste and also a shame the trees are left naked.
  • I just invented a time machine.  I used it to travel to ten seconds ago to get myself to change the subject and hey look!  A hippopotamus in a pink tutu!
  • Do you think that because I went back in time and changed the above random musing, that there will be disastrous effects on the world?  They say the smallest tinkering with the past can change the future in terrible ways.  Still, I can’t help but think that my life would be better now if I go back in time and tell myself to stop picking my nose so much.  It would have prevented my deviated septum, the various brain restorative surgeries, and also I might have gotten more chicks.  Then again, I might not have met Video Game Rack Fighter.  Oh well.  I guess I’ll stay a nose picker.
