I think there was a conscious effort to instill diversity in the wins this year.
Not diversity of looks though. They never nominated people of different races but all of those people were good looking. We demand more nominations for ugly actors.
Casey Afleck was close to being ugly. His unkempt man-bun and lazy speech pattern made him look like he belonged on that tourist bus.
Still not ugly enough though. I will not rest until Steve Buscemi takes home the gold.
He’s not a bad actor. Boardwalk Empire was a good showcase for him. Maybe a Steve Buscemi/Clint Howard buddy movie will do it.
