Would a Zombie Apocalypse Really Be That Bad?

shutterstock_99981176-copy

Hey 3.5 readers.

Blasphemy for a zombie nerd to say this, but sometimes I wonder if a zombie apocalypse would be as bad as they are portrayed on television.

Don’t get me wrong.  A zompoc would be awful.  However, I feel like the government has all kinds of contingency plans on what to do if America is invaded and what with police and army and everything I feel like the zombies could be fended off.

Sure, it would be a disaster.  Many would die, have their brains eaten and end up undead.  I’m just not convinced that people would instantly drop everything when the first zombie wave hits.

Yes, our public officials, politicians and so on make us worry sometimes but I think they would stick around to coordinate things and I don’t think the army, police, first responders etc would give up without a fight.

Then again. I could be wrong.  Everyone might see a zombie and crap themselves.

Even if the world were to descend into an apocalyptic state, I feel like there is a lot of knowledge in people’s brains, such that rebuilding might not be as difficult as imagined.  Surely there would be more to life than just wandering from town to town to see which abandoned stores still have old boxes of candy and twinkles to feast on.

Hell, the Ancient Romans built some impressive buildings and did great things with very little compared to what we have today.  You, the average reader, could take the knowledge in your modern brain and go back to ancient times and live like a King.

Or could you?  I suppose you’d have to have the skills needed to take the knowledge in your brain and make it happen in real life.

I don’t know.  I could be wrong.  Maybe without the whole system in place now we’d all just end up acting like a bunch of dummies and be screwed.

Maybe I have too much faith in people.  Then again.  Maybe I don’t.  I hope we never find out what a zombie apocalypse would be like in real life as there would be way too many zombies.

FYI the Yeti just reminded me that I did live through a zombie apocalypse that was better known at the time as the East Randomtown Zombie Apocalypse, the terrible ordeal in which #31ZombieAuthors assisted me and gave me the advice I needed to pull myself out of a jam.

I’m sorry.  I’m very forgetful when I’m under Yeti control.  So yes, to answer my question, people are stupid and a zombie apocalypse would be awful as the zombies would eat everyone and then everyone not eaten would do stupid things.

Ergo, this post was pointless.  My bad.

But tell me what you think anyway, 3.5

BQB’s Walking Dead Recap – Season 7, Episode 6 – Go Getters

cropped-cropped-img_1753

OBLIGATORY SPOILER ALERT

I gotta be honest 3.5 readers. I don’t always know exactly what’s going on with the Walking Dead, so if it ever sounds like I got it wrong then feel free to correct me.

There are so many characters and locations and story lines to keep up with and I am a busy man with a blog frequented by 3.5 readers to attend to.

Maggie’s alive though I don’t think anyone was really fooled into thinking she was dead.

The Saviors retaliate against the Hilltop by bringing the zombies though I didn’t really get why…for disobeying orders, for harboring Sasha and Maggie except the Saviors seem to be unaware they are there so I don’t get it.

Steven Ogg is going to make a career out of playing the angry Grand Theft Auto douche.  One of few people to get famous off of a video game character.

Carl and Enid: A Love Story Amidst a Zombie Apocalypse. Aww.

Walking Dead Chapelle’s Show on SNL

Hey 3.5 readers/Walking Dead fans.

BQB here.

Dave Chapelle parodied the Neegan baseball bat scene from The Walking Dead using Chapelle’s show characters.

Chapelle’s Show was so funny…like one of those rare sketch comedy shows where every sketch was hilarious.  I wish he’d made more.

Anyway, here it is:

Oh, I’m on Easy Street, la dee de Easy Street…

Daryl is in Neegan jail, punished with dog food sandwiches, solitary confinement, beatings and “Easy Street” playing on a continuous loop non-stop.

Neegan monologues way too much but Daryl is showing the mental toughness he needs to get out of this situation.

Will Dwight remain loyal to Neegan or will he team up with Daryl?

BQB’s The Walking Dead Recap – Season 7, Episode 2 – “The Well” – SPOILERS

Hey 3.5 readers.

It’s Sunday so it’s Walking Dead.

SPOILERS!

This show has been on seven years and the key to its success is that it keeps reinventing itself.  You have a large cast with people going off into different directions so there’s always an opportunity to do something new.

And they really did something new tonight.

We get introduced to King Ezekial, a dude with dreads who owns a tiger named Shiva and he speaks in an Old English accent.  His community is called “The Kingdom” and all the people who live there wear hockey pad-esque knight gear and act like their knights and shit.

The people of the Kingdom and the King all play it straight.  Carol and Morgan are weirded out, Carol more so than Morgan.

The viewer ends up assuming that the King and his friends are most like Ren Faire/Dungeons and Dragons nerds who dabbled in fantasy and are now taking advantage of the zombie apocalypse to make their fantasies reality.

You do get to learn the King’s secret though I don’t want to give it away.

Zombies are being fed to pigs. Not sure what that’s about but as much as I love bacon, I’ll pass if it comes from those pigs.

The ongoing worry whenever the regular cast members happen upon a new community is that the community always looks nice and the people are nice but then there’s inevitably some terrible secret that causes all shit to break loose.

Here’s hoping that the King is just a dude who played a little too much World of Warcraft and that’s all.

It’s depressing as shit and if you show it to a vampire, he or she will be too depressed to bite you.

The Walking Dead – Season 7, Episode 1 – “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be”

cropped-cropped-img_1753

Holy crap, 3.5 readers.

Seven seasons and The Walking Dead just keeps walking.

I don’t want to spoil it but needless to say, the big question going into this season was who did Neegan kill and low and behold, we found out, in a big way, and with some twists.

Some big ole twists.

So, you know, I’ll probably hang on for another week before I go into detail just to let people process and in case anyone hasn’t gotten to see it yet and needs to catch up.

If your new to BQB’s recaps, just remember they are spoiler laden, so avoid if you haven’t watched the show yet.

The Walking Dead – Who did Neegan kill?

The Walking Dead returns soon, 3.5 readers.

If you recall, at the end of the last season, Neegan was about to give one of our intrepid heroes a vigorous baseball bat beating.

One can only assume we’ll find out who got struck out in the new season, though you never know, there might be an unexpected plot twist.

My theory:

It is unlikely that a female character will buy the farm in such a gruesome way on TV.

It is unlikely a main featured character will croak.

Thus, you can rule a lot of people out.

Keeping in mind they’ll want to maximize the impact by killing off someone the viewers have bonded with yet the show can continue without and I think that comes down to Eugene or Abraham.

I’m going to guess it is Eugene. He’s the underdog. The cowardly geek who did everyone wrong by lying about a cure yet ironically did them good by tricking them to seek safety.

We like to think we’d be awesome like Rick in the face of a zompoc but in reality, many of us would be a Eugene.

If they do go with a main character? Glenn. He’s shown tremendous growth over the series, going from young adult to man, but the show can go on whereas people would freak out if they los Rick, Michonne, or Daryl.

What say you, 3.5 readers?

What are your theories?

Movie Review – The Boy (2016)

Worst babysitting gig ever.

BQB here with a review of The Boy.

If I’m being honest here, I watched this movie for two reason:

  1. Lauren Cohan (Maggie from The Walking Dead) and since she’s sans-Glenn in this one, I can fantasize about wooing her with my manly machismo.
  2. Killer doll movies are the scariest of all movies. No one has a gremlin, ghost, zombie or monsters in their house, but everyone has at least one doll.

In her breakout movie role, Lauren plays Greta, a nanny hired by an elderly couple to take care of their son, Brahms.

The catch? When she arrives, she learns that Brahms is actually a doll, though his parents don’t let on that this is anything but normal.

I don’t want to give too much away, but as you can imagine, clues are dropped throughout in an effort to lead you in different directions. Is there a boy’s soul trapped in the doll? Are the parents nuts? Is Glenda nuts? Is everyone nuts?

It’s worth it to watch until the end to find out. I won’t spoil it because to the film’s credit, you won’t get what’s going on until it is all finally revealed.

I know I didn’t and as my 3.5 readers are aware, I’m a genius so that’s saying something.

Worth a rental.
