Walking Dead Chapelle’s Show on SNL

Hey 3.5 readers/Walking Dead fans.

BQB here.

Dave Chapelle parodied the Neegan baseball bat scene from The Walking Dead using Chapelle’s show characters.

Chapelle’s Show was so funny…like one of those rare sketch comedy shows where every sketch was hilarious.  I wish he’d made more.

Anyway, here it is:

Oh, I’m on Easy Street, la dee de Easy Street…

Daryl is in Neegan jail, punished with dog food sandwiches, solitary confinement, beatings and “Easy Street” playing on a continuous loop non-stop.

Neegan monologues way too much but Daryl is showing the mental toughness he needs to get out of this situation.

Will Dwight remain loyal to Neegan or will he team up with Daryl?

BQB’s The Walking Dead Recap – Season 7, Episode 2 – “The Well” – SPOILERS

Hey 3.5 readers.

It’s Sunday so it’s Walking Dead.

SPOILERS!

This show has been on seven years and the key to its success is that it keeps reinventing itself.  You have a large cast with people going off into different directions so there’s always an opportunity to do something new.

And they really did something new tonight.

We get introduced to King Ezekial, a dude with dreads who owns a tiger named Shiva and he speaks in an Old English accent.  His community is called “The Kingdom” and all the people who live there wear hockey pad-esque knight gear and act like their knights and shit.

The people of the Kingdom and the King all play it straight.  Carol and Morgan are weirded out, Carol more so than Morgan.

The viewer ends up assuming that the King and his friends are most like Ren Faire/Dungeons and Dragons nerds who dabbled in fantasy and are now taking advantage of the zombie apocalypse to make their fantasies reality.

You do get to learn the King’s secret though I don’t want to give it away.

Zombies are being fed to pigs. Not sure what that’s about but as much as I love bacon, I’ll pass if it comes from those pigs.

The ongoing worry whenever the regular cast members happen upon a new community is that the community always looks nice and the people are nice but then there’s inevitably some terrible secret that causes all shit to break loose.

Here’s hoping that the King is just a dude who played a little too much World of Warcraft and that’s all.

The Walking Dead – Season 7, Episode 1 – “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be”

cropped-cropped-img_1753

Holy crap, 3.5 readers.

Seven seasons and The Walking Dead just keeps walking.

I don’t want to spoil it but needless to say, the big question going into this season was who did Neegan kill and low and behold, we found out, in a big way, and with some twists.

Some big ole twists.

So, you know, I’ll probably hang on for another week before I go into detail just to let people process and in case anyone hasn’t gotten to see it yet and needs to catch up.

If your new to BQB’s recaps, just remember they are spoiler laden, so avoid if you haven’t watched the show yet.

The Walking Dead – Who did Neegan kill?

The Walking Dead returns soon, 3.5 readers.

If you recall, at the end of the last season, Neegan was about to give one of our intrepid heroes a vigorous baseball bat beating.

One can only assume we’ll find out who got struck out in the new season, though you never know, there might be an unexpected plot twist.

My theory:

It is unlikely that a female character will buy the farm in such a gruesome way on TV.

It is unlikely a main featured character will croak.

Thus, you can rule a lot of people out.

Keeping in mind they’ll want to maximize the impact by killing off someone the viewers have bonded with yet the show can continue without and I think that comes down to Eugene or Abraham.

I’m going to guess it is Eugene. He’s the underdog. The cowardly geek who did everyone wrong by lying about a cure yet ironically did them good by tricking them to seek safety.

We like to think we’d be awesome like Rick in the face of a zompoc but in reality, many of us would be a Eugene.

If they do go with a main character? Glenn. He’s shown tremendous growth over the series, going from young adult to man, but the show can go on whereas people would freak out if they los Rick, Michonne, or Daryl.

Daily Discussion with BQB – Robert Kirkman vs. George RR Martin

Happy Friday 3.5 Readers.

Robert Kirkman of Walking Dead fame recently said in an interview that he would not allow a network to take control of his show the way George RR Martin has.

My two cents:

a) GRRM is almost 70 years old.  Though I’m sure he is enjoying all the attention his life’s work is getting, it did come at the end, not exactly at a time when he could enjoy all the accompanying fame and fortune.  He needs to balance the need to get his last novels in the series done with not wearing himself out to the point where he keels over.

b) HBO has done a great job.  Currently, we’re in the first season in which the show begins to diverge from Martin’s books (the show has progressed farther past the point where GRRM has written) and the consensus is that it has been the most riveting season yet.  That’s to trash Martin.  He has been advising HBO on what he intends to do next and they are carrying it out.

I don’t know. I don’t mean to knock Kirkman either as the Walking Dead is also pretty great.

I just think GRRM and Kirkman are in two different places. Kirkman is young enough he can still run the show whereas Martin needs extra naps.

Daily Discussion With BQB – Would You Keep a Zombified Friend or Relative “Alive” In Case There is a Cure? (Or – “Zombie Lives Matter”)

shutterstock_226399294 copy

Daily Discussion?

Well, I’ll put up another tomorrow morning, but let’s call this a nightly discussion.

It happens in a number of zombie movies/TV shows. It becomes a prime source of contention.

One character befriends another character. Things are going fine then boom…it is discovered that this new person is secretly keeping their zombified friends and/or family alive (as alive as they get.)

WALKING DEAD SPOILERS:

  • The Governor kept his zombified daughter locked up in a cabinet. Michonne kills her, igniting a war.  (I feel like I’m in the minority for siding with the governor on this one.  I’d be highly offended if I had zombie children and Michonne strutted in and started hacking them pieces without so much as consulting me first.)
  • Hershel kept his zombified friends/family locked up in a barn.  He eventually agrees that the best option is to put them out of their misery.

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD SPOILER

Madison’s family spends most of the second season on a boat voyage to a secret location (thanks to Strand.) Alas, the woman in charge is keeping her zombified friends/family captive in hopes of a cure.

SHAUN OF THE DEAD SPOILER

Shaun keeps his zombified buddy chained up in a shed in the backyard. Sometimes, he even plays video games with him.

WHAT SAY YOU, 3.5 READERS?

This may be controversial but I think I’m leaning towards chaining up my zombified friends/family if it can be done so safely in the hopes of an impending cure.

Perhaps one day zombie-ism will be reduced to something as easily treatable as a cold.

Maybe your local pharmacy will start selling Vick’s Anti-Zombie Rub.

Hell, maybe your zombified charges will get to see the future.  Chain those zombies up in a bunker and in a thousand years when they cure zombies they’ll not only be cured but they’ll see the world of tomorrow.

DRAWBACKS

Ahhh…shit I can see the drawbacks though.  Keeping a zombified human is a lot like having an exotic pet.

Will I ever be able to go on vacation again? Do I really want to impose on someone to care for my zombies while I’m away?

Do I want to be that guy who hoodwinks a buddy to zombie sitting for me away?

“OK here’s my elaborate set of instructions. Throw one live goat into my zombie’s pit every day and make sure to keep those chains oiled.”

WHAT SAY YOU 3.5 READERS?

I think you have to err on the side of caution and keep your zombified loved ones safe and sound in the hopes that a zombie cure is found.
