That’s a tough call, there’s quite a plethora of worthy films I myself have seen this year. What comes to mind is Hunt for the Wilderpeople, a New Zealand film directed by Taika Waititi (who is directing the upcoming 3rd Thor film). It’s hilarious and charming, and an absolute adventure of its own. Worth checking out in my opinion (not sure how its release went in the US, it was pedalled a fair bit in Australia).
I didn’t see much in the theater this year. Star wars 7 in January. Although I know it came out last year, I waited for the crowds to die down. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Secret Life of Pets. A couple of Harry Potters when they came back through but I know that doesn’t count either. So Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? How sad is that? Can you tell I have a young male child? LOL
Two films stand out for me this year. Embrace of the Serpent, a Colombian film, actually made last year, but released in the UK this year, and Taxi Tehran, a light hearted Iranian film filmed from the dashcam of a taxi with added footage from passengers’ mobile phones and cameras (again made in 2015 but I didn’t get to see it till this year).
Another film that was technically last year, but I didn’t see it till this year, avoiding the mad rush, was the Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, which I have to say is perhaps the best Star Wars film I’ve seen.

I haven’t heard of it but I will have to check it out.

That new turtle movie was good and made up for the last one which was horrible
The Lobster. It was so funny and clever.
I heard about it what is it about
It’s a satire comedy about a society that gives people 30 days to find a mate or else they’re turned in to an animal of their choice.
