Daily Discussion with BQB – How to Make Up After a Fight

Sad times at BQB HQ, 3.5.

Video Game Rack Fighter and I just had a big fight.  Terrible.  Awful.  I heard new swear words I had to look up in a dictionary.

I mean, I don’t want to cast blame but it was totally her fault.  I think it is ok to say that in a blog post because only 3.5 people read this blog.

Any ideas on how to make up with a woman who is mad at you?  Until then, I guess I’m sleeping in the Bookshelf Battle Basement with Bookshelf Q. Battledog and the Yeti.

What say you, 3.5 readers?

Well, as a woman, one thing I can tell you is that while in an argument, women are almost always concerned with having their side heard and, more importantly, understood. I’m willing to bet that she wants you to understand why she feels the way that she does. If she feels like you think her side of the argument is understandable, likely, the rest can be forgiven (unless it was a really big, nasty fight.) Naturally, the best way that this is done is by using active listening and being receptive to her message (not trying to imply that you don’t already do this). Using this method with also (hopefully) give you a chance to voice what it is that got you angry or argumentative, so that you can express yourself in a similar way.

I know you said that this issue is actually her fault, so I guess I’m trying to say that if you validate her feelings, she may be soothed enough by that to actually address whatever the real issue is. Kinda like a Jedi mind-trick!

I don’t know if any of this is actually helpful to you, but I thought I’d throw in my two cents. Best of luck!

  2. Yup I can confirm all my big ugly arguements with the hubs are due to him not understanding me.

  3. The key decision you have to make in a relationship; do you want to be right or do you want to be happy? Choose wisely, grasshopper.
